The focus is on developing students’ ability to think critically, creatively and productively about a problem, while also nurturing team skills. Challenged with a complex, real-world problem, students work in collaborative groups or teams to understand the problem and propose solutions. Often such problems do not have an obvious solution, but are examples of challenging, open-ended problems faced in our world today.

And the Pedagogy.

There are three dimensions to the pedagogy involved in STEAMathalon that creates positive outcomes across the board.

Quality

STEAMathalon push learners to operate at the top level of Bloom's taxonomy and are able to convince people of their understanding.

Environment

Relevance

STEAMathalon topics, content and outcomes are relevant, real and linked with the community. Learners make real social impact.
